    Idaho

Idaho became the 43rd state to join the union in 1890. It is bounded by Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The capital is Boise

Idaho’s agriculture includes cattle, potatoes (1/4 of the nation’s crop comes from Idaho), apples, corn, dairy products and wheat. The major industries include food processing, wood and paper products, mining and tourism.

The state flower is the syringe. The tree is the white pine, the bird is the mountain bluebird, the horse is the appaloosa, the fish is the cutthroat trout and the gem is the star garnet.

The Grangeville is a community that is considered the getaway to five wilderness areas and four national forests totaling 5 1/2 million acres. Idaho is second only to Alaska in designated wilderness areas.

The dramatic Hell's Canyon is the deepest gorge in America.

Sun Valley is recognized as the home of America's first destination ski resort and is still the destination choice for thousands of visitors year around.

Due to the gold and silver discovered in the 1800’s, Idaho now has several ghost towns including Silver City, Yankee Fork, Gold Dredge, and the Sierra Silver Mine.

If fishing is your love, among the many excellent rivers, streams and lakes in Idaho is Anderson Dam which is known for its blue-ribbon fly-fishing. Other outdoor sports include whitewater rafting, camping and hiking.
