Ohio entered the union in 1803 as the 17th state. Today the
capital is Columbus.
Ohio is bordered by Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Michigan, Pennsylvania
as well as Lake Erie. The largest cities in the state are Columbus,
Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Akron.
Ohio’s agriculture includes soy beans, diary products, tomatoes,
corn, hogs and poultry. The state’s industries include
transportation equipment, fabricated metal products, electric equipment
and food processing.

- Degenhart Paperweight Museum has over 4,000 paperweights. It
is located in Cambridge.
- Mansfield has a most interesting museum called The Living Bible
Museum. Built by the members of a nondenominational church,
it is similar to a wax museum and, in fact some items were donated
by Madame Tussauds. There are 41 dioramas divided into
Old and New Testaments.
- Charles Goodyear of Akron developed the process of vulcanizing
rubber in 1839.
